Why Custom Art is the Ultimate Gift

🐱🐰Pet Portraits🐶🐹

Process

As an animal lover, it is always such a pleasure capturing your sweet fur babies on paper. The process that I have developed over the years helps me capture your pet's personality and makes it possible for us to work together to create a special portrait of your loved one.

  • 1️⃣First step

You will fill out the email form under "pet portraits", supplying me with a photo to use as a reference, the name of your animal (s), when you want the portrait to be completed, the background color if you have a preference and size of the portrait. I have found that the most popular size is 11x14 inches, but I have other sizes available.

  • 2️⃣Second step

Once I receive the email, I will get back to you with some additional questions, and potentially a request for more photos and answer any questions you have.

  • 3️⃣Third step

Once we agree on size and reference material, and shipping, I will send an invoice and proceed with the artistic process once the payment is received.

  • 4️⃣Forth step

Depending on how many reference photos supplied, I may send a thumbnail to confirm layout and I will ask for any tidbits or stories you have to share about your fur baby. I ask for these stories to help me capture their essence and personality in the watercolor portrait. It is so special to hear about how they have left a mark on your life. I have had the pleasure painting portraits of pets who still have many years left with their humans, as well as portraits of pets who have passed away. Every portrait is so special and I put extra love and care into every one.

  • ✅️Last step

Once the portrait is complete, I will email you a finished photo for any additional feedback. Once the portrait is okayed, I spray it with archival finish (which must dry for 72 hours), then I pack it safely and securely and mail it out to it's new forever home.

🎨Illustrations🖌

Process

My illustrations are my most diverse service I offer, and is always a wonder every project I have the pleasure to take on! From custom designed characters hand painted for a baby's nursery, to album covers, children's books and more, I always put exceptional detail and a little bit of magic into every illustration.

  • 1️⃣First step

You will fill out the email form under "Illustration services", supplying me with an inspiration photo, what kind of illustration you are desiring, a budget if you have one and if you have a time frame for completion.

  • 2️⃣Second step

Once I receive the email, I will get back to you with some additional questions, and potentially a request for more photos and answer any questions you have.

  • 3️⃣Third step

We may need a phone call before the cost is decided, but once we agree on budget, I will send an invoice and once payment is received, I will start the artistic process.

  • 4️⃣Forth step

This step depends upon what kind of project you are asking to be completed. A children's book could be something we complete over multiple calls and months, an album may only takes some emails back and forth, a customized character will take a phone call and thumbnails, and other illustrations will vary as well. The one common aspect to each illustration is my dedication to stress free and clear communication that leads to a beautiful illustration that brings the images in your imagination to life with a brush, watercolor and ink.

  • ✅️Last step

Once the illustration is complete and okayed by you, you will either receive an email with digital files of 300dpi images of your illustration (for example if you used my illustration services for a children's book or album cover), or a physical painting mailed to you (for example if you commissioned me for a watercolor painting of a character we designed together)~

💖Testimonials

Debra contacted be asking for an illustration of a dragon for her grandson's nursery. Excitedly we discussed over a planning call all the detailed aspects she wanted included, everything from type of dragon, color, cultural details and more. Once I had everything I needed, I drew up some thumbnails, sent them her way and she chose her favorite. I then drew and painted this sweet dragon illustration that now hangs in her grandson's nursery~

This project for Tim was something I wasn't sure at first how we were going to make it come to life. He has incredibly detailed and gorgeous writing that is for an adult audience or very advance reading, which varied greatly from a children's books style and format. We had many meetings discussing thumbnails, storyboards, characters etc. until we were able to create these beautiful storybooks for adults that I am very lucky to have been a part of~

✨️I hope after reading this, you now have more of an idea of the process for each of my watercolor commissions and services and I so hope to hear from you for a lovely project we can bring to life together✨️
